ABOUT WRITE TO RISE
Áine has been hosting WRITE TO RISE Decolonising Workshops spirals for over 7 years on many beautiful lands with so diverse communities of people. These workshops are so powerful because it’s so human in all of us, the need to express, create and share our stories. We are at a time in our human experience where across the world, across communities, across lived experiences, there’s rumblings happening and seeds growing, truths being shared and pens (swords) being directed towards the growth of our collective humanity.
It sometimes takes a nudge to step in to claim some space, take the pen, and write what is coming forth, especially in these times as it all feels so big. In recent workshop on Birpai country, a few had gratitude for Áine opening a door, a way in, and that’s the space of this workshop. None of us have the answers or are “experts” in creativity: how could we be? It’s mystical and magical and a dance to dance but no way to pin it down, but Áine has her deep cultural ways of being in community together and sharing in ways that are not top down approaches, but more in circle. If you are looking for more doorways in, need a nudge, yearn for a community also wanting to write to rise, WRITE TO RISE is just that.

Áine Tyrrell has built her international music career by thinking outside the box and saying it how it is. In this workshop Áine will help work with you to decolonise from the structures of industry, patriarchy, and colony that keeps us from taking up space with our writing. Write in defiance of the silencing of your own truths. From songwriting to poetry and beyond, writing is a powerful way to speak to the hard truths of ancestral pasts and the beauty and hope in the futures. Share some of Áine's processes in how she unveils some of these hidden conversations and rises strong in hope. No matter what level of writer, by the end of the workshop she will empower you to write something that needs to come out. Something that is stuck in your own craw about being a human in the current state of our world.
