I have had a few months of being reminded of my Nana's best advice... "What's for you, won't pass you by"! This advice stands strong in the face of so many of lifes ups and downs. My siblings and cousins all pass this advice back and forth to eachother like a tennis ball whenever we need that extra bit of perspective on a topic that we just can't figure out ourselves. I love mantras, I follow many of them and take bits and pieces of inspirations from everyone around me, but "What's for you, won't pass you by" is like my old favourite jumper that I snuggle into every time life throws that cold wind my way. It has eventually wound its way into a song that has been delighting both old and young audiences... I love my Nana's words in song and lovely to have her with me on stage each time I perform!!
The reason I share this advice with you today is that when life fails to deliver on something you were expecting, it is sometimes best to sit back and soak in this advice and then move forward. I had been speaking of the fantastic promotional video that we were going to have shot at the National Celtic Festival for quite sometime. Planned it, worked out the details, all set. For reasons beyond my control, the video didn't happen.... at first I was disappointed, but... then... I sat with it.... To be honest the gig that was supposed to be videod was probably our worst performance in awhile due to sound, technical, and far away audience that was hard to connect with on a big stage. Perhaps this was the reason for life messing up my little plan... "What's for you, won't pass you by" I kept repeating.... I sat with that...and from that a fantastic new plan, video, and magical evening has been born.
On the 2nd of August, Matiss and I will be seen busking around Queenscliff, hanging out at the train station and then having a very intimate gig at the Lounge @Salt Gallery being flmed. The Salt Gallery is a magical space full of inspirational Art, exposed wooden beams, old leather chairs that you just sink into, beautiful cocktails that go down smoothly, and a fire to warm the soul. We will film all of this and weave it into a 3-4 minute promotional video. For those that are local, please join us, let your shiny smile be part of our video ..... but book early because there will only be 45 tickets available.
