33 and 1/3 Makes A Revolution T-Shirt

STORY OF THE TEE: This T-shirt design is a Collaboration between Irish Artist Dee Mulrooney and Arakwal Artist Nickolla Clarke and graphic designer Kate Stroud and the words from Áine's recent 'We Call You Now' releaser - "33 and 1/3 Makes A Revolution". There are 30% of population in so-called Australia who claim Irish heritage and 3% Indigenous population and together we are a force to be reckoned with.

FROM ÁINE: Just like the track, it is important for me to keep making spaces for collaboration between our two cultures. Both of these visual artists are working in their spaces for connection to country, land, and community and are so in line with the message of the song. I left the scope broad and just asked them to work with the words 33 and 1/3 makes a revolution. And I was blown away by what they visually represented in the infinity link between both cultures and how we can work together because 33 and 1/3 certainly makes for a Revolution!

FROM THE ARTISTS: Snakes have many meanings in both cultures. In Irish culture it is about reclaiming who we were before the Christianity drove the snakes out of Ireland, back to our Indigenous roots. Dee has chosen Neolithic Celtic Symbols from Newgrange, Nowth and Dowth as these are the earliest signs and artworks in Ireland and all to do with connection. You have the Eucalyptus on the left representing the Indigenous connection to land in so-called Australia and the Oak on the Right representing the Irish Indigenous connection to land. It's special how we have the Gum Nuts and the Acorns in connection too to these two trees. Nickolla says the Gabul (the Carpet Snake) "represents Arakwal people from the Bundjalung nation, it guides us and looks after us. The design has a backbone of eggs to represent the family line of Arakwal people born with this totem and highlight concepts of fertility." The design was done with pen and ink and scanned up to T-shirt here where Kate Stroud designed it up.

💚 MORE BLACKS MORE DOGS MORE IRISH HOODIE 💚

"Merch on a Mission" ... immerse yourself in the story of this hoodie! The Design: Another iconic bad ass collaboration. The design started in the incredible hands of Irish artist Dee Mulrooney who brought to life the now-extinct Irish Wolf with Neolithic Celtic Symbols from Newgrange, Nowth and Dowth as these are the earliest signs and artworks in Ireland and all to do with connection. It then got sent to Arakwal Artist Nickolla Clark who brought to life the Dingo. The artwork inside the Dingo represents our journeys across country, meeting and gathering at our sacred sites, waterholes and many tribal homelands. The line work connecting the circle meeting places is those sacred song lines we all travelled on for story, trading, food, ceremony and sorry business. The Words: This Hoodie is a powerful statement and a twist on the racist signs of 'No Blacks, No Dogs, No Irish' seen around USA, UK and the same attitudes that prevailed in so-called Australia since colonisation. More Blacks More Dogs More Irish need we say more. These words and powerful Dingo and Irish Wolf were sent to powerhouse Stroud de' Signs who created the layout for this hoodie.

The Printing: This Hoodie is designed to LAST! It is an extremely lush hoodie made and printed to the highest standards. Vegan, Fairwear, Organic and as snuggly AF. We literally chose THE best hoodie on the market from Organic Tees for a sustainable purchase that will last you many years. With a message this good, you want it to last. The Initiative will raise awareness and support Indigenous knowledge, cultural voices and employment.
